FHA appraisals may only be performed by appraisers that are approved with HUD. When choosing an appraiser to perform the FHA appraisal costs, turnaround time and competency should be considered. When considering an appraisal company Residential Services has reasonable fees for performing FHA & Conventional appraisals.

Our appraisal fees are very competitive and help lenders be more competitive in pricing the loan.
Our fee for a 1004 FHA appraisal is $350.00
Our fee for a 2055 FHA appraisal is $225.00 (The 2055 is acceptable to HUD for the second appraisal, Mortgage Letter 2008-40)
FHA COMPETENCY:
James Graner has been approved by Hud for FHA appraising since 1996. Most recent mortgage/appraisal letters have been studied and are always within reach for review, should that be necessary.
Property guidelines for residences were established by HUD for homes that would be eligible for Fedral Housing Authority insured mortgages. The responsiblity for determining whether a home meets all requirements has been placed on the FHA appraiser. This found to be the most appropriate course of action, instead of calling upon a building inspector for a second trip to the home. The list items is long and often a REALTOR or a Mortgage Professional does not understand what is required for such loans. HUD does not wish to all mortgages on Fedral Housing Authority mortgages without numerous items meeting a minimum standard.
